Lightning’s Sergachev returns to lineup against Rangers

Tampa Bay Lightning defenceman Mikhail Sergachev was back in the lineup Wednesday against the New York Rangers.

Sergachev left Saturday’s 5-0 win over the New York Islanders during the third period after sustaining an apparent leg injury.

The 24-year-old Sergachev got tangled up with Jean-Gabriel Pageau while trying to keep the puck in the Islanders’ zone after a faceoff before hobbling back to the bench and then being taken to the locker room.

Sergachev, who had a goal and an assist prior to leaving Saturday’s game, is in the midst of a career season with 59 points (nine goals and 50 assists) in 75 games while also averaging 23:56 of ice time per game.

The playoff-bound Lightning are already locked into a first-round matchup with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
