Maple Leafs’ Marner extends point streak to 19 games, breaks franchise record

Toronto Maple Leafs right winger Mitch Marner has broken the franchise record for the longest point streak after recording a point for the 19th consecutive game Saturday against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Marner extended his streak with a short-handed goal in the second period to give Toronto a 1-0 lead.

Marner tied the previous franchise record of 18 games, shared by Darryl Sittler and Ed Olczyk, on Nov. 30 against the San Jose Sharks with an empty-net goal late in the third period.

Over the 19-game stretch, Marner has registered eight goals and 17 assists.
