Toronto Maple Leafs forward Ryan Reaves exchanged some words and shoves with Chicago Blackhawks forward Corey Perry on Monday night.
Turns out, Reaves isn’t a big fan of the guy who scored the game-winner for Chicago.
Reaves, 36, said he started not liking Perry, 38, during the first game they ever played against each other early last decade.
Why?
“Just the way he runs his mouth. He kind of acts tough. He’s not tough,” Reaves said on Wednesday.
Reaves, of course, is known for playing the enforcer role. He has 129 points and 1,033 penalty minutes in 831 career games.
Perry also has spent his fair share of time in the penalty box — 1,382 minutes. But he has 887 points in 1,261 career games.
Perry is a four-time all-star. He won the Hart Trophy in 2011, the Stanley Cup as an Anaheim Duck in 2007 and captured Olympic gold with Canada in 2010 and ’14.
None of that will change Reaves’ opinion, though.
“I never really liked him to be honest,” he said. “We always seem to kind of run into each other when we play against each other. Not a lot of love for that guy.”
Asked if Perry would ever drop the gloves with him, Reaves said: “Definitely wouldn’t.”
The Leafs and Blackhawks meet again on Nov. 24 in Chicago.
