Maple Leafs’ Morgan Rielly returns vs. Lightning, Joel Edmundson remains sidelined

The Toronto Maple Leafs will get Morgan Rielly back in the lineup against the Tampa Bay Lightning but will have to wait a little longer for some other players to make their return.

According to head coach Sheldon Keefe, defenceman Joel Edmundson still isn’t close to returning despite being a participant at morning skate. The 30-year-old isn’t expected to play Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens which means the earliest he could return is either Monday against the Pittsburgh Penguins or Tuesday against the New Jersey Devils.

Mark Giordano is expected to come out of the lineup for Rielly who has missed his last four games with an upper-body injury.

Mitch Marner is not expected to return to the lineup until the weekend despite being a participant in practice.

Joseph Woll is slated to be the starter against Tampa after Ilya Samsonov played the last two games.
