The Toronto Maple Leafs may be without Zach Hyman for the time being.
The 28-year-old was knocked out of the club’s Sunday night game against the Vancouver Canucks with a knee injury after colliding with veteran defenceman Alex Edler, who appeared to stick out his right leg as he and Hyman made contact.
Hyman remained down on the ice in pain for some time, while Edler was assessed a game misconduct for the incident.
The Maple Leafs later announced that Hyman would not return to the tilt.
Hyman currently has 15 goals and 33 points on the season, ranking second and third on the team in those categories, respectively.
