Oilers, Flames both favourites on busy Tuesday night in NHL

The Edmonton Oilers will be looking to extend their current win streak to five games when they open a five-game road trip in Detroit on Tuesday night as -175 favourites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Edmonton hits the road after beating the visiting New York Rangers 6-5 on Friday night, lifting the team’s record to a 9-1-0 going into Tuesday night’s matchup at Little Caesars Arena.

The Oilers have vaulted to an early lead atop the Western Conference on the strength of a productive offence. The Oilers lead the league at 4.50 goals scored per game, potting five or more goals on seven occasions including in each of their past three outings.

The Red Wings, meanwhile, vie for a third straight win as they get set to hit the ice as +150 home underdogs for Tuesday at online betting sites. Detroit posted wins over Buffalo and Vegas on back-to-back nights this past weekend, and has limited the Oilers to just five total goals while claiming victory in two of their last three meetings.

Elsewhere on Tuesday, the Calgary Flames will be looking to keep pace with Edmonton as they host the San Jose Sharks as -180 home favourites. The Flames put an end to a two-game slide with a 6-0 win over the Rangers on Saturday, which also marked netminder Jacob Markstrom’s fourth shutout in just nine appearances this season. Set as +155 underdogs, the Sharks take a two-game losing streak onto the road, and are looking to overcome an outbreak of COVID-19 that has sidelined several players and team personnel.

Also on the Tuesday NHL odds, the Montreal Canadiens will be looking to rebound from back-to-back defeats as they host the Los Angeles Kings as -140 chalk.

The Canadiens’ early-season woes continued with losses to Vegas and the New York Islanders, and Montreal sits in the Eastern Conference basement. Montreal has allowed four or more goals on eight occasions during a 3-10-0 start, including a 5-2 loss in Los Angeles back on Oct. 30. The Kings arrive in Montreal as a +120 bet for Tuesday night.

As well, the Vancouver Canucks will try to win consecutive games for the first time in over two weeks as they host the Anaheim Ducks as -150 favourites. The Ottawa Senators look to snap a four-game slide as they visit the Boston Bruins as +225 underdogs, while the Winnipeg Jets host the St. Louis Blues sporting slim -105 odds in a key Central Division matchup.
