Panthers reach agreement with defenceman Casey Fitzgerald on one-year, two-way deal

Florida Panthers have agreed to terms with defenceman Casey Fitzgerald on a one-year, two-way deal. The team announced his re-signing on Monday.

He was originally drafted in the third round (86th overall) by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2016 draft.

In a career total of 63 games with the Sabres and Panthers, the 26-year-old has scored nine points (all assists).

Last season, after being claimed off waivers from the Sabres, he played four regular season games and two playoff games with the Panthers.

Before turning professional, Fitzgerald played four seasons for Boston College and also played for Rochester Americans in the AHL. He’s represented the United States at the 2017 Under-20 Championship and 2015 World Under-18 Championships, winning gold.
