The San Jose Sharks announced Friday they have signed defenceman Scott Harrington to a professional tryout agreement.
Harrington spent the past six seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets and recorded one assist in seven games last season. He played primarily with the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League during the 2021-22 campaign scoring three goals and four assists for seven points in 50 games.
The 29-year-old from Kingston, Ont., was drafted in the second round, 54th overall, by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2011. Harrington represented Canada twice at the world junior championship and earned a bronze medal in 2012.
He was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs on July 1, 2015, as part of the Phil Kessel deal. Harrington suited up for just 10 games with the Maple Leafs before he was sent to the Columbus Blue Jackets along with a conditional draft pick for Kerby Rychel on June 25, 2016.
In 210 career NHL games, Harrington has seven goals and 31 assists for 38 points.
