The Dallas Stars have agreed to a four-year, $18-million contract with forward Mason Marchment.
Marchment had a breakout season in 2021-22, tallying 18 goals and 47 points in 54 games with the Panthers. That success made the 27-year-old one of the most intriguing names on the open market — not to mention, a top candidate for a sizeable raise after earning an AAV of $800,000 last season. His new deal carries a cap hit of $4.5 million annually.
In Marchment, Dallas lands a big, versatile winger who has proven himself as a depth scorer with plenty of top-six upside to complement the Stars’ core up front.
“Mason is a young and talented two-way player that will immediately bolster our lineup,” Stars GM Jim Nill said via the team’s press release. “He possesses offensive skill and has shown he has the size, physicality and grit to make an impact on both sides of the puck.”
In 91 career NHL regular-season games, Marchment — who first broke into the NHL as an undrafted free agent signed by Toronto in 2018 — has registered 20 goals and 58 points.
