PWHL sells out game in Toronto against Montreal, with record crowd expected

The PWHL has sold out Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena for a game between the Toronto and Montreal franchises, with more than 18,000 people expected to attend.

The league announced the sellout via social media, stating: “The arena sold out minutes after the sale went public,” in a Tweet on the app now known as X.

The record for a women’s professional hockey game is 13,316, which was set on Jan. 6 when Minnesota hosted Montreal at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn.

The PWHL has dubbed this upcoming game — which will take place on Feb. 16 — the Battle on Bay Street.

Montreal is currently tied for first place in the six-team loop with 15 points, while Toronto is in last with eight. Both teams have played eight games to date.
