PARIS — Lyon has signed prolific forward Claudio Beauvue from Guingamp, clearing the way to sell in-demand top-scorer Alexandre Lacazette.
Lyon says in a statement that Beavue cost 4.5 million euros ($5 million), plus up to 3 million euros ($3.3 million) in performance bonuses. Guingamp will also get a percentage of any future sale of the 27-year-old.
Beauvue signed for four years with the Ligue 1 runner-up, which will play in the Champions League next season.
Beauvue scored 17 league goals for Guingamp last season, and 27 in all competitions, impressive for a player who started on the wing before moving to striker toward the second half of the season.
Lacazette was the league top scorer with 27 goals.
