Shapovalov, Auger-Aliassime earn first-round byes at National Bank Open

Denis Shapovalov of Richmond Hill, Ont., and Montreal's Felix Auger-Aliassime have received first-round byes in the National Bank Open presented by Rogers.

Tennis Canada released the first-round matches Saturday for the men's singles event at the Aviva Centre in Toronto.

The top 16 seeds all picked up first-round byes including No. 1 Daniil Medvedev and No. 2 Rafael Nadal, who is a five-time Canadian Open men's champion.

Wildcard Vasek Pospisil, from Vernon, B.C., awaits a qualifier for his first-round match.

Milos Raonic of Thornhill, Ont., withdrew from the event Thursday.

First-round action for the men's tournament at the National Bank Open presented by Rogers, previously known as the Rogers Cup, begins Monday. All matches featuring Canadians have been highlighted in bold.
