Courtney Vandersloot latest star to join Liberty in busy off-season

The New York Liberty are continuing their busy off-season by adding veteran guard Courtney Vandersloot in free agency.

Vandersloot announced the move on her Twitter account, ending a 12-year run with the Chicago Sky that included the 2021 WNBA title.

Vandersloot, who turns 34 next week, adds more star power to a Liberty team still looking for its first title. On Wednesday, former MVP Breanna Stewart announced she was signing with the Liberty, and the team acquired 2021 MVP Jonquel Jones in a trade. The trio joins rising star Sabrina Ionescu to form a team now considered the favourite to win the Eastern Conference.

Vandersloot averaged 11.8 points, 6.5 assists and 3.9 rebounds in 32 games, while shooting 37 per cent from three.
