Secret Dream Gap Tour stop in St. Louis postponed due to COVID-19 exposure

The Secret Dream Gap Tour stop in St. Louis this weekend has been postponed due to a COVID-19 exposure to one of the teams, the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association announced Friday.

The PWHPA says the decision was made after recent tests “warranted more caution.”

The event, in partnership with the NHL’s St. Louis Blues, was slated to feature New Hampshire and Minnesota facing off on April 11 at the Centene Community Ice Center and at the Enterprise Center the following day.

“We are proud to have successfully navigated back-to-back events in New York and Chicago, but this serves as a stark reminder of why strict protocols were put in place — to ensure any positive cases were caught before any player or staff member travelled to St. Louis,” Jayna Hefford, PWHPA operations consultant, said in a press release.

“We are heartbroken but the PWHPA looks forward to being able to play in front of the St. Louis fans in full health — and full force — at a future date to be determined.”

The St. Louis event was scheduled to be the final U.S.-based competition before PWHPA players head to international camps ahead of the world championships in May.
