WWE superstar Windham Rotunda, also known as Bray Wyatt, dies at 36

WWE superstar Windham Rotunda, also known as Bray Wyatt has died, WWE executive Paul “Triple H” Levesque announced. Rotunda was 36 years old.

“Just received a call from WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda who informed us of the tragic news that our WWE family member for life Windham Rotunda — also known as Bray Wyatt — unexpectedly passed earlier today,” Levesque wrote. “Our thoughts are with his family and we ask that everyone respect their privacy at this time.”

Wrestling reporter Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com reports that Wyatt was away from WWE after being diagnosed with COVID-19, which exacerbated a heart issue. He was working towards a return to wrestling before his death.

His cause of death was reported as a heart attack.

Rotunda was with WWE from 2009 to 2021 wrestling under different names including Bray Wyatt, Husky Harris, and The Fiend. He was heralded for his unique characters and wrestling style.

He returned to the company in 2022 and last appeared on WWE in February of this year after taking a break to deal with health issues.

During his time with the company, Rotunda was a three-time world champion. He was a third-generation wrestler with his father Mike Rotunda, grandfather Blackjack Mulligan, and his uncles Barry and Kendall Windham all having prominent careers.

Before pursuing a career as a professional wrestler, Rotunda was a state wrestling champion at Hernando High School in Florida where he also played high school football.
