Avalanche’s Bednar optimistic Kadri will return during Final

Colorado Avalanche coach Jared Bednar believes injured forward Nazem Kadri will be able to return during the Stanley Cup Final.

Bednar, whose team leads 2-1 over the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Final, said Tuesday that Kadri is making progress.

“I believe he is an option for us at some point,” Bednar said.

Kadri has been out since undergoing thumb surgery after Game 3 of the Western Conference Final against the Edmonton Oilers.

Prior to the injury, he had six goals and eight assists through 13 playoff games this spring.

Meanwhile, Bednar said forward Andre Burakovsky is in Denver getting treatment.

Burakovsky left with an undisclosed injury during the second period of the Avalanche’s Game 2 win on Saturday.

Burakovsky has three goals and five assists in 12 playoff games this year.

Bednar also would not name a starting goalie for Game 4 on Wednesday.

Pavel Francouz replaced Darcy Kuemper in Game 3 after the latter gave up five goals on 22 shots.
