Tyson Barrie and the Colorado Avalanche agreed on a four-year deal worth $22 million Sunday — two days after their arbitration hearing but prior to the verdict.
Twenty-four NHL players filed for arbitration this summer, led by four of the Rangers’ restricted free agents and three RFAs from both the Maple Leafs and Flyers.
Detroit filed for club-elected salary arbitration with Petr Mrazek in the only team-initiated arbitration case.
Hearings were scheduled in Toronto from July 20 to Aug. 4.
These cases usually result in a game of chicken, the two sides rarely completing the arbitration process. The majority of salary disputes are settled prior to an arbitrator’s ruling. Last summer, only three of 25 cases went the distance: Mike Hoffman, Marcus Johansson and Alex Chiasson. Hoffman and Johansson found themselves pointed to arbitration again this summer, but both players settled early.
Below is a list of all 25 players who had cases opened. All of them settled prior to arbitrator ruling, and only the Avalanche and Tyson Barrie went through with a hearing.
Michael Stone
2015-16 salary: $1.45 million
Pre-arbitration settlement: The Coyotes signed Stone to a one-year deal worth $4 million on Thursday. Stone is scheduled to become a UFA next summer.
Tyson Barrie
2015-16 salary: $3.2 million
Post-arbitration settlement: The Avalanche signed Barrie to a four-year, $22-million deal Sunday. The sides did go through a hearing but reached a longer-term deal instead of waiting on the arbitrator’s ruling.
Mikhail Grigorenko
2015-16 salary: $675,000
Pre-arbitration settlement: The Avalanche and Grigorenko agreed to a one-year contract worth $1.3 million on July 20, two days before arbitration.
Jared Coreau
2015-16 salary: $600,000
Pre-arbitration settlement: Two years at an average of $612,500 per season
Danny DeKeyser
2015-16 salary: $2.25 million
Pre-arbitration settlement: GM Ken Holland said he wanted to sign DeKeyser to a long-term deal, and he did just that on July 26. Detroit inked the defenceman to a six-year contract worth $30 million.
Petr Mrazek *
2015-16 salary: $737,500
Pre-arbitration settlement: The Red Wings agreed to terms with the goaltender on a two-year, $8-million contract just ahead of their arbitration hearing on July 27.
Jordan Schroeder
2015-16 salary: $600,000
Pre-arbitration settlement: A one-year, two-way deal with an NHL salary of $650,000 and an AHL salary of $275,000 was reached on July 23. He’s guaranteed to make at least $300,000.
Calle Jarnkrok
2015-16 salary: $735,000
Pre-arbitration settlement: The Predators signed Jarnkrok to a six-year, $12 million contract on July 27.
Petter Granberg
2015-16 salary: $600,000
Pre-arbitration settlement: Granberg and the Predators agreed to terms on a two-year, $1.225-million contract.
Kyle Palmieri
2015-16 salary: $1.6 million
Pre-arbitration settlement: Palmieri, the Devils’ leading scorer in 2015-16, inked a five-year, $23.25-million contract on July 7. His new deal carries a $4.65 million salary cap hit.
Kevin Hayes
2015-16 salary: $900,000
Pre-arbitration settlement: The Rangers and Hayes settled on a two-year contract worth $2.6 million per season on July 22.
Chris Kreider
2015-16 salary: $2.6 million
Pre-arbitration settlement: The Rangers and Chris Kreider agreed to a four-year, $18.5-million contract just minutes before their July 22 arbitration hearing.
Dylan McIlrath
2015-16 salary: $600,000
Pre-arbitration settlement: The Rangers and McIlrath agreed to terms on a one-year deal on July 15. The defenceman will earn $800,000 in 2016-17.
J.T. Miller
2015-16 salary: $874,000
Pre-arbitration settlement: Miller, who led the Rangers in even-strength goals last season, signed a two-year deal worth $5.25 million on July 13.
Mike Hoffman
2015-16 salary: $2 million
Pre-arbitration settlement: Hoffman told reporters in mid-July that his No. 1 priority is inking a new deal with the Senators. The sides accomplished just that on Wednesday, agreeing to terms on a four-year, $20.75-million contract. See how the deal stacks up.
Brandon Manning
2015-16 salary: $625,000
Pre-arbitration settlement: Manning and the Flyers agreed to terms on a two-year, $1.95 million deal on Tuesday.
Brayden Schenn
2015-16 salary: $2.75 million
Pre-arbitration settlement: Schenn and Flyers struck a four-year, $20.5-million deal on July 25, the same day of their arbitration case. The new deal carries a cap hit of $5.125 million.
Jordan Weal
2015-16 salary: $632,500
Pre-arbitration settlement: A one year, two-way contract that pays $650,000 at the NHL level.
Jaden Schwartz
2015-16 salary: $2.7 million
Pre-arbitration settlement: The Blues signed Schwartz for five more years, inking him a $26.75-million deal on Friday.

Alex Killorn
2015-16 salary: $2.7 million
Pre-arbitration settlement: Killorn and the Lightning agreed to a seven-year contract on July 17 that will pay the forward an average of $4.45 million per season.
Vladislav Namestnikov
2015-16 salary: $874,125
Pre-arbitration settlement: The Lightning have avoided arbitration with Namestnikov, signing him to a two-year deal worth $3.875 million.
Frank Corrado
2015-16 salary: $632,500
Pre-arbitration settlement: Corrado and the Maple Leafs settled on a one-year, $600,000 contract on July 25, one day before their hearing. Corrado got his wish: It’s a one-way contract.
Peter Holland
